Overview
For security reasons, all VPS instances provisioned by Linkdata.com are delivered with all network ports closed by default. This approach ensures maximum protection against unauthorized access, automated attacks, and potential vulnerabilities.
What Happens After Ordering a VPS
Once a VPS order is successfully placed:
- A confirmation email will be sent to the registered email address
- This email includes a secure link to request port access
- The link directs to a controlled form where specific ports can be requested
Requesting Port Access
There are two methods available to request opening ports:
1. Via Email Link (Recommended)
- Use the secure link provided in the order confirmation email
- Specify:
- Port number(s) (e.g., 22, 80, 443)
- Protocol (TCP/UDP)
- Purpose of the port
2. Via Support Ticket
If the email link is unavailable or additional assistance is required, submit a request directly through the support portal:
https://portal.linkdata.com/submitticket.php
Include the following details in the ticket:
- VPS ID or hostname
- Requested port(s)
- Protocol (TCP/UDP)
- Reason for opening the port
Important Notes
- All requests are reviewed before approval to maintain infrastructure security
- Only necessary ports should be requested
- Opening unnecessary ports may increase exposure to security risks
- Standard service ports (such as SSH, HTTP, HTTPS) can be requested easily
Best Practice Recommendation
It is strongly advised to:
- Open only the ports required for the application or service
- Use firewalls and security configurations inside the VPS as an additional layer
- Regularly review open ports and close any that are no longer needed
Summary
- All VPS ports are closed by default
- A secure email link is provided after purchase to request port access
- Alternatively, requests can be made via the support portal
- This policy ensures a secure and controlled hosting environment
